Salt ponds
I had a connection in San Francisco when I came to Honolulu. I had a pretty good view on the salt ponds. Those are huge, you can see power line pylons in a few of the pictures. The surreal tint is given by the microbes living in the pond. There is quite sharp cut off line. As the salinity increases, one species die off and another take it's place, changing the huge for something quite different but just as trippy. No wonder they had a strong hippie movement in San Francisco back then.
