About me

My name is Yannick Gingras; I'm the co-founder of a young Internet startup called Brasseurs Numériques (Digital Brewers). Sharing the passion with three other partners, we develop Ajah Fundtracker, an interactive directory of funding sources for Canadian non-profits. I'm also the lead-organizer of Montréal-Python, a registered non-profit with the mission of uniting local users of the Python programming language. Among its achievements, Montréal-Python was recently awarded the privilege of hosting the PyCon conference in 2014 and 2015.

I love good beer. I brew my own, which sometimes wins prizes, and I'm involved with the local home brewing club. When I'm neither typing on a computer nor drinking beer, I like to climb rock faces. My latest discovery is traditional rock climbing, the terrifying ancient art of ascending bare rock walls, installing all the protection that you depend on as you move up.

I share my name with other famous persons; the Yannick Gingras who runs this website is not involved in horse racing and he doesn't write poetry or songs. I was born in Québec city and I now have the great fortune of living in the fascinating Montréal.

About this website

This is a typical blog, with essays, diary entries, and rants on various technical topics. If you look carefully, you might find a few extras: code, images, videos and more. The blogging engine is called Arpinum; it's a custom piece of Pylons code that I probably will never release because it's overspecialized for my own needs. The web design is based on Zenlike by NodeThirtyThree.
